I've noticed a few things about my FX loop over time and I'm wondering if anyone knows the technical reasons why?
Basically;
FX Loop Bypass (using rotary knob in back) - Most scooped sounding, kind of flubby bottom end.
FX Loop Off (loop is on, but bypassed using the footswitch) - Bit more mids and a tighter bottom end.
FX Loop On (footswitched on) - Boost in volume and midrange. Most aggressive of the three sounds.
Me personally, I think Mesa did the above on purpose. My reasoning being that if you're playing rhythm live you're probably going to play dry. So they make it so it drops the volume slightly and scoops a bit of mids in the process. Then, when you engage the loop you get the volume boost, mid boost, and your delay (or whatever) turns on for your lead solo.
Any thoughts/insight?
