i am just looking for some imput as to how i should record and place my mics on my 4x12 with my triple rec running through it. I have a Shure SM57, a Shure SM58, and an AKG Perception 200 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Mic. I'm not sure if im going to place all of these mics on 3 different speakers or maybe just the SM57 and AKG. What advice do you have for me? THANKS!

I think the traditional multi-mic method is to place one mic up close to the speaker and another a few feet or more away (for ambience I guess).

Some will mic the back of combos also. Oh you can also add the slave out for another option.

Yeah, when my band is in the studio, we do what Mr_You said. We had an SM 57 directly on the cone of the bottom right speaker, and a condenser mic about 3 to 4 feet away from the cab on a small stand. If you really want it to be dynamic, then you could put the sm-58 on a boom stand and mic the top left speaker, than way getting all three sounds, the top of the cab, the bottom of the cab and the room ambience. Anyway, either or should sound good. Good luck, post em when you get some done!! and let us know what you went with.

Has anyone tried running a slave out signal (with a Direct Box?) with a miced signal of an SM57?

Sounds like it might be an interesting combo :D
