hey guys, so i'm having a problem with the footswitch on my trip rec. i currently have my head set to spongy instead of bold, thatway i can bypass the master volume and just use individual channel volumes. i do this to have some better volume control. i was doing a dvd shoot with my band at a show (problems always happen at the worst possible times, eh?) and my head started tweaking. the footswitch was causing it to switch between all 3 channels over and over, and the head would have to channel lights on at the same time, etc etc. after i figured out the problem i obviously unplugged it and the head itself was fine. i also tried turning the head on/off with the footswitch before i figured out the problem.

this is a 2 part question i guess... does anyone know whats wrong with the footswitch and how to fix it? i have no problem doing electronics work, switching components, soldering, etc etc.

and part two, is there a way to activate the effects loop while set to spongy instead of bold? i only really used the footswitch to keep it on spongy and have use of the effects loop since my band has very little clean parts.

anyways dudes, any help would be appreciated, jam on! and check out my band if you'd like - www.myspace.com/shotmusic

mine does the same thing!
everytime i switch on the head...i hear a long buzzzzz inside MTR and on the footswitch everything is lit.
my only option(because i don't know what is the problem) was to remove the pedal.
i use only the Ch3.
any solutions..soldering..replacing parts inside the footswitch?
thanks

When I start up my triple rec, it makes the same noise as lowbass5 descibes and all my lights light up on the footswitch as well. I just step on the channel I want to use and everything works fine. I always assumed that that was just a normal start up.

I also have mine set to spongy and I have complete control over the individual volumes as well as the master volume. I could be wrong but I thing that no matter how you have it set, spongy or bold) the volume controls will be the same. I recommend downloading and reading the manual from Mesa's site. There is great info in it.

To activate the effects loop, make sure you have the knob on the back selected to effects loop. Let me know if any of this makes sense. You can give me a shout if you need some help with any of this. Good Luck.

Start simple...try cleaning the contacts on the back of the head, the footswitch itself, as well as the cable with electronics cleaner..I've seen strange stuff happen because of dirty contacts. Playing on the road is not the cleanest enviroment for electronic stuff....

The master volume and solo are defeated when you bypass the effects loop, has nothing to do with spongy or bold.
