It was a tourmaster cab. I really liked the cleans through this cab, the other stuff sounded good. I could hear the differance between it and my rec cab for sure.

I'm gonna play it through a friends 2x12 LS cab as well.

I'm thinking I may end up changing speakers, the V30's may not be for me.

If you can, try it through some smaller V30 loaded cabs. They produce more upper bass than the Recto cab, which makes the overall sound a little warmer/fuller sounding. This seems to pair well with the brighter settings... ie, IIC+ and IV.

Greenbacks are also nice, although you'll need a 4x12 of them to handle the Mark V on full power.

Bro, I'm loving my Mark V through my Eggie 2x12. I've not played the Tourmaster 2x12, but I'm sure it's pretty similar to mine. I use a single Emi Delta Lite II (neo) speaker, and it sounds fantastic. It's also lighter than most 1x12s, which is nice.

What smaller cabs would you be referring too. The Mesa 2x12 horizontals are pretty small as they are.

Which one do you have, the tourmaster 2x12 is the only one on their website at the moment.

Mine is a USA made cab, from back when Bruce only had USA made amps and cabs. I got it when I bought his MOD 100 modular head about 10 years ago.

I'm running my Mark V combo through my Egnater Tourmaster 4X12 half stack loaded with four V30's and I absolutely love it! It totally transforms the tone and "feel" through a bigger cab.

So, how does the Eggie cab compare to the Lonestar cab?

We havn't gotten together yet as he has been busy. He plays in a band that gets a lot of work, http://www.smokingunnz.com/bio.html. Not to mention he is a very good luthier as well, (woodshed guitar works on facebook).

Hopefully this week we'll be able to do something.

I'll let ya know.

Cool.

Getting together tomorrow with the LS cab and my Mark V. Plans are etched in stone so I'll let ya know how it goes.

Well today I got together with my friend Chris and his LS 2x12.

I plugged the Mark V in and didn't touch a thing control wise. I immediatley noticed the speakers had a chimier tone. After a few minutes I backed off on the highs; it was just too pointy for me at that point. However, I liked the fact that I had even more highs to play with and I didn't notice any loss in bass response with the way I have the amp dialed in. Thats not to say the c90's don't have less bass than my v30's I just didn't notice a lack of it with my settings.

I felt that the c90's are more articulate, the cleans with this cab seemed crisper and more bell like which is where I am the most unhappy with my v30's. So I think I will be making a speaker swap in the near future for sure.

I would love to get my hands on an alnico set of WGS to try or something similar. I feel they would be right up my ally. I'm hooked on the chime I get out of the bandmaster, so I'm wondering if alnico wouldn't be the way to go. For me anyway.

Missed this question....

In my case, smaller was an Orange 4x12 vs the oversized Recto 4x12, and based on stuff I've been reading I should expect similar results from other "traditional" sized cabs, such as Marshall and the Mesa Stiletto.
