I've heard that people say that anything you plug in between your guitar and amp will suck tone. I can see that. Now, I'd like to avoid that from happening. My question is in regards to the tuner. I understand it is recommended to plug the tuner in the direct line out (of my amp). Which I have tried and works, but the problem here is, I cannot tune my guitar silently.

I am currently using a Boss Tuner Pedal (TU-2 I think), I plan on getting a rack mount tuner, probably a Korg from the reviews I've read.

Is there a way to hook this up or a specific tuner needed so I can tune my guitar silently while keeping it plugged into the direct line out to avoid signal loss?

I'm using a IIC+ if that matters...

I run the record out to my tuner which works really well for newer boogies but I don't think a IIC has one.

I run my signal from my RECORD OUT on my Triaxis to the DTR-2000.

No tone suck...no problems.

From my Mark V head, I use the tuner out.

From the IIC+ use the FX Loop or use an A/B box (WHIRLWIND).

For those of you who use the record out, do you have the option of tuning silently - how?

I think you are overcomplicating this a bit. All you need is a tuner pedal like the Boss TU2 and put it first in your effects loop (If it's a serial loop). When you step on the pedal you get silent tuning. You can put it in front of your amp too if it suits you better or if your effects loop isn't a serial loop. This will guarantee that no sound gets through when you tune. I don't see the point in you getting a rack tuner if the rest of your setup isn't in a rack. A pedal is smaller and simpler and the footswitch is included in it.

There is many ways to silent tune without having the tuner in your actual signal path. My favorite way is using the split out of my BS-2 Buffer. The Tuner is always seeing signal, but not in the signal path. My Volume pedal is after the buffer, so you just back off the volume pedal and you have silent tuning. Of course, I can put the tuner in the tuner out of my Volume pedal too.

Do you have a switcher? You can do it this way to.

Not over complicated, just curious, I have read that putting your tuner or anything for that matter before your guitar sucks the tone, I also have heard similar thing for the FX loop. I have heard great things about using the record out option, but am curious if you have the option of tuning silently-that's all.

I do have a Boss TU2 as mentioned above.

I also have a rack-mount Parametric EQ and Power Conditioner, I am building my rig to be in rack mount form and I also like the convenience of where the tuner sits in the rack vs on the ground with the pedal...

Thanks tedsticle, all I have right now is my C+. Rane PE15 and a Furman PL-8 II Power Conditioner, I have a Boss TU2 for now, but am looking at a rack mount tuner.

Sorry, I was sure you wrote that you have the TU 6, which isn't a pedal.

If you get a tuner pedal with true bypass, it can't suck your tone when it's switched off.

Try this Korg pedal:

Generally, you won't get much tone suck in your effects loop because the signal has been boosted by that stage. It's usually before-amp tone suck that is noticable.
