Hi. I have a Mark V and 4x12 Road King cabinet. I am trying to put together a effects rack with limited space in my basement. I was hoping that I could incorporate the rack to sit on top of the cabinet or head. However I am not sure if this is practical.

My needs are pretty simple. I will only likely need 4-5 rack spaces in total. I will likely have a: power supply; G-Force; and eventually a Rivera Rock Crusher. The G-Force is only 7" deep and I assuming the Rivera Rock Crusher may be a bit deeper. Is there a way to build a rack that I can put on top of the cabinet and/or head without it tilting off. Or am I forced to have it sit beside the cabinet?

Maybe a better way of asking the question is can I purchase a rack that has the same width/depth dimensions of the cabinet and rest the head on top of that rack?

Thanks

RK

You can get a road case to hold both the head and rack effects.
The most shallow rack I have seen is 14 inches. Still about 4 inches of overhang, but all the overhang can be over the back of the cab.

This fits fine on top of my Recto cab, and it holds my VHT 2 90 2 and (just) fits my Triaxis. The reason I say it holds my amp is because mine is actually an effects case as opposed to an amp case.

I bought some shelving wood from the lumber store and made my own to the exact width of my cabinet. It's a four space unit and cost me about $30 in material including paint and rack rails and took about an hour to build.
I highly recommend this route over spending $100+ on a rack that won't fit right and possibly tip over.

Well there's something like his but its 76 Lbs and 29 inches tall. You could keep the head on top but then you really haven't saved any space for your tight space requirements.

Still though kinda nice.
I have my Triaixs 2:90 G-Force in a 4 space road ready rack "non shock mount" and decided to forgo the power conditioner and extra stuff to help keep it as small as possible.
I moved the rear feet forward a few inches and put it on top of a straight slant 4x12 cab.
Tougher to make it all neat and tidy with a head that's wider than the rack.
Ever consider using a floor based processor....
