Where can I get a "rack" in which to mount and unitize my rack mountable equipment? I need only a three space "rack"

Thanks in advance for your help. :D

On eBay there are some good 3 space inexpensive racks made by OSP. They are $100 with free shipping. They make shallow (12" depth) racks as well. I've been looking for a shock mounted (with the foam around the inner rack) 3-space for a while now and no one makes them except for custom makers. I got a quote last week from a place in Florida and it was $400 for a shock mounted 3-space. I settled for a 4 space shock mounted shallow rack made by DJK (they sell on eBay as well), but they were out of stock so the seller refunded me and I am going to wait until they get more. Those were only $180 with free shipping.

You can always go cheaper than that even and get a Grundorf type carpeted rack. Nothing pretty, but will protect your gear. Most of the 3 spaces you see nowadays are the molded Gator type racks. I don't like the looks of those so I am biased against them.

Pro Tec makes a nice little rack mount bag for smaller setups. They come in 2, 3, and 4 space. If you've got more than 4 spaces of gear, you could probably get a couple. Guitar rack gear gets heavy pretty quick, so i've found these little rack bags are great for breaking up the weight.

When I was looking for a three space rack a few months back I found that there aren't that many companies out there that make three space racks. After checking them out I settled on the Gator (I don't have the same hangups as Mark Fore), and I can say for the price they're not at all bad, they're strong, lightweight, well made, and good looking. Definately worth the $.

http://www.affordable-cases.com does a great job. They made a Roland JC120, Mesa Standard Cab, and 8 space + Mesa head rack cases for me. They just kick ass.

They have an interactive list to choose from and can customize your case so you know its what you want.

Try the usual Internet outlets - Musician's Friend, AMS, etc. You should be able to find 3 and 4 space racks of varying depths for under a $100 (including shipping in many instances) and see a number of competing product lines under a single "roof". I think MF even markets their own line of very inexpensive smaller rack cases.

At the very least, the online stores are a great research tool - once you've found what you want you can hit eBay or CR and see if you can get a better deal. :D
