Question on swapping out tubes

I have 2 sets of matched Mesa EL34's on their way to me and should be here this morning. I want to swap all 4 out in my Mark V to see what the tonal differences are compared to the 6L6's. Is there any special way to change them - meaning should one pair of matched tubes go in the two middle positions and the other two go on the outside Or does it not matter? Any advice is appreciated.
