Hi guys,
So I just got a Mark IV and was looking at the back of it...the 2 big transformers are *really* rusted. It seems to work, but I was wondering about how much those would cost to replace(if the time comes where the rust screws up the transformers)...? I'm hoping these aren't super rare or expensive...

Also, is there anyway to stop/reverse any more rust on those transformers?

if you get denatured alcohol and a tooth brush you can scrub it off.. with the cleaning product you want something that has no conductivity and its a good if it evaporates..

Wow...didn't think of that...thanks for the tip! I think there might be more than just a thin layer of rust tho...

Are those cheap to replace?

BTW, here's a pic of the rust...yah, it looks pretty bad...

Transformers are probably the most expensive single part in a tube amp .

Leave it. Rust is non-conductive, so it's really only an appearance thing.

If it really bothers you, brush it off with a nylon-bristled brush, then paint them with Rustoleum.
