Hi there all! My first post in this excellent forum.
I've been playing on a Mesaquad-5050 (Marshall 1960a) rig for a while now and want to get me a Mesa combo, got my mind set for a Mark IV but maybe there's a lot of other combos that would fit my taste. I mostly play in a coverband and the quad really works for me but i need a second amp since a lot of gigs take place on 2 stages the same night (no time to move and soundcheck only one rig). I'm not looking for an metal amp, what i want is something that goes from nice clean to hardrock. What do you suggest? Mark series? DC? anything else? It's not possible for me to try them before buy since i live i the north of sweden, so i get them used and resell if i don't like the sound.
Where to start?

Thanks for your help

The two separate preamps on the Quad are based on the Marks IIc+ and III. Depending on which pair of channels you prefer, either one will make a great, versatile amp.

Thank you for the reply.
Let's put it this way....What would i find in a Mark III and not in a Mark IV and the other way round?

A useful R2, better reverb, Pentode/Triode power amp, mid boost and switchable effects loop. IMHO, the MK IV is superior. It also has two differently voiced presence circuits. Pushed in it is brutal, pulled it is smoother and more sweet. It also has the Tweed power which is great for low volume playing or smaller venues.
