So I got the quad today. It sounds fantastic but I have channel switching problems....

I haven't got a cable for the footswitch atm so was relying on switching the channels by using a pedal into the midi switching sockets until I get a cable.

When the amp is first turned on, the lead 2 light is faintly on wheras I'm sure there should be no lights.

The amp does change channel using the pedal in the midi switching socket but as soon as you take your foot off the pedal, it goes back to 'no channel' with the lead2 light faintly lit.

I used a latching pedal to keep the amp in any particular mode but I noticed that lead 2 suffers a volume drop when you engage the eq and also had volume drops.

Does this sound like I need to replace some/all the LDRs or have a I got bigger problems with the channel switching?

Thanks!

I have not fixed my switching problems with my FU-2 yet, so I can't offer too much help.

I am using 1 latching footswitch in the L2 socket as you described, and the L2 light does come on when the amp is turned on. When step on the switch, the light goes out and the signal is gone, as it should be.

I just ordered a handful of cheap switches on ebay for a DIY footswitch project, but I suspect my problem is in fact the LDRs. My FU-2 worked fine after I made a cable for it, and it suddenly stopped. I just can't afford the LDR's at this time.

I hope others chime in with some advice on how to id the problems.

Sounds like we have pretty similar problems.

I got the cable yesterday (thanks for your reply in the other thread) but it doesn't help. When I plugged it in, all the lights came on! Plugging/unplugging caused fairly random combinations of lights after that but the bottom line is that the FU2 doesn't work.

I also hope somebody else can chime in, I guess there aren't many people with experience with them..... On the positive side, this thing sounds amazing, I can't believe I just bought a IIC+ and III so cheaply, even if the channel switching is screwed :)

Hmmm...
I remember having a similar issue when I finally got a cable that worked. I seem to remember having to plug everything in while the power was off, and sometimes more than one light would come on on the FU-2. I remember randomly stepping on all of tyhe switches, and then it finally worked.

OK so I've ordered replacement parts for the quad. I have ordered replacements for the 19 LDRs, all the electrolytic caps and the carbon composite resistors, some of which have drifted over 20% out of spect!

Now I need to find a trustworthy tech to change out all this stuff near West London, does anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks
