Hi everybody, it's nice to be among other Boogie enthusiasts…

My rig is currently running a Carvin Quad X-Amp preamp with T.C.Electronics G-Major FX into to a 50/50 amp and out into 2 Thiele cabs loaded with EVM12L.
I'm thinking to replace the preamp with something else...
I was thinking about the Quad preamp of boogie, or either the Triaxis.
My style is metal, progressive metal, blues rock etc…
I don’t like to hustle and spend too much time on programming.
The preamp should have enough brutal massive distortion sound…something to remind the mighty MK4.
What do you think ?
How is the Quad sounds ? is it a good choice ?
Thanks.

It sounds awesome with the 50/50.
I had a bunch of effects & used to suck out the mids, etc., but now I like it raw. It has a brutal bite, but sounds natural at the same time.
It will get you the sounds of the late 80's early 90's metal easily.

Make sure you get one with the footswitch and a cable. They are hard to come by.

If you want to switch the Quad and you effects at the same time, then you will need some ort of midi switcher, and the footswitch won't be necessary.

here is a cool track by "straitouttahell" using a quad.

thanks guys...
for those of you who has the triaxis, is it that hard to dial a good sound out of it ? does it realy worth the money ?
which one of the 2 you think will make "better" smashing metal distortion ?

Whenever I hear this clip I slightly regret I have sold my rack for a MkIV combo. At least as long as I don't turn it on :)
