It seems that there are two things that I would say are PROBLEMS happening. First off I can use both graphics on either channel for some reason (I thought they were supposed to be exclusive to the channel they're set into) and secondly I think that either channel (by which I pean preramp, you know, the Mark III at the top and the IV at the bottom) anyway, either channel seems to be losing volume after I've been using it for a while, as when I switch to the other the volume seems to be greater than it was previously set... I've tried souking the amp overnight and then testing and it still does the same F$@%@$£@ng thing... If I had hair I'd tear it out!!!

Any comments?

1. The preamp contains the Mark IIC+ and Mark III circuit
2. Check the V1 tubes and try changing them with known new and or working ones
3. Check the site below, there is alot of information about the Quad as well as about the signal path. Towards the bottom thee is a diagram of which tubes your signal goes through and what they do. That would be a good place to start. Get some 'new' or in the very least 'known good' tubes and try changing them in the various positions one at a time. Document and audible changes.

Ok, cleared up the EQ issue... Thanks both of you!

I thought the volume problem was due to dodgy valves and replaced all of them about a month ago with JJ's and Cryo treated Harma ecc83s at input and lead positions - and it's still doing it.

I think seeing as I'm not gigging for the next couple of months I'll use the downtime to test it component by component... If that doesn't find the culprit then I don't know..?

Take some guy shots for us and post em. Maybe someone here will be able to identify the problem. Also, I would just send it to Boogie and have them look it over. Its worth the money.

I'd love to send it to Boogie's UK repaiers but don't trust 'ethe fuckers... I had a studio pre years ago which went in slightly ****** and cam out ripped to ****... I sent it to a guy I know who worked for Arcam, the hi-fi people - and he sorted it right as rain... shame I didn't keep in touch.

After testing a few bits I've found one or two caps are failing and I'm going to mod it to be able to rebias the valves... JJs run REALLY hot... :D

I think seeing as I'm a massive HIWATT fan I'll refit it to what I'd expect from one of them. ie no fluctuations, running perfect every time, no question
