Hi. I have a Mark IIB combo that I just bought. The clean sound is pretty good although I think it could have more bottom end. But I can't seem to get a good lead sound out of it. Not the singing overdriven sustain of CArlos. It's just crunch, but not good crunch if you turn it up.or else weak. I think there must be something wrong with it. I was thinking of trying to send it to the Boogie factory to have them go over it. Do they do that? I thought I heard of a factory upgrade to IIC+. Anybody know anything about that? Also, I took it apart and most of the caps are orange drops. Is that stock for a IIB or have they been replaced? I did try different power tubes but no help.
Thanks for any help with this. I love the Boogie sound and want to get it sounding right. I also noticed that the traces of part of the circuit board were dull and had a silvery powdery coating. Is this bad?
I also have a Mark I with problems. When you turn it up past 4 it starts oscillating, like feedback kind of. What causes this oscillation? I tried different power tubes but it didn't help. It also has very low power and bad sound quality with a 60 cycle hum. The caps are Mallory except for the filter caps with have a pale yellow can. Are these stock?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Any techs out there?
Thanks, Paul.

I'd try swapping some tubes before sending it back to Boogie.

If you need to send it back to Boogie, call them and ask for Mike Bendinelli. He's the Mark series guru and a seems like a good guy - he spend about 15 minutes on the phone with me talking about my Mark C one day.

A Mark IIB can not be upgraded to a C +. Only a regular C can. A Mark III can be modified to sound close to a C+ too.
