I am using a Dual Rectifier with the effects loop controlled by the footswitch. I normally use TC Electronics G Major as a guitar processor in the effects loop.
I am having some cracking sounds, voice drops and occasional total voice loss, which is totally random. It sometimes happens right after I plug my guitar, or at the 3rd hour of rehearsal or none during a 6 hour test. I had this problem on stage once, and I removed my G Major effects processor and it was ok. Later I started to use just a reverb pedal in the effects loop, to be able to find the cause of the problem, and the problem still surfaces once in a while.
Here is the tricky part: As soon as I unplug anything from the effects loop, or switch the effects knob at the back of the amp, the problem seems to disappear. And after that, I cannot replicate the problem.
One thing I noticed today was, when I touched the reverb pedal, the cracking sound did get worse. It sounded like it was one of the cables I was using, but at that time my effects loop was of ( i am controlling it by the footswitch) So there shouldn't be any signal passing through that effects loop, right? Also, when I had the problem on stage, I had different sets of cables and processor. So i am leaning towards that the problem is related with the amp's effect loop itself but not what is attached to it.
I'll continue testing but as it is arising totally randomly and disappears as soon as I touch something, it is getting really difficult to find what has the problem. And also not having any issue for hours does not necessarily mean that the problem is not there. If anyone has any ideas, that would be greatly appreciated
