Hope one of you Mark V gurus have an answer...

I have tried several distortion pedals in the loop, both at the front end of my pedal board and the end. In both cases I have a ridiculous amount of reverb, even though I have no reverb or delay in the loop. It appears the pedals are is somehow interacting with the Mark V reverb. Do I need to put the pedal outside of the loop in front of the input?

Thanks 8)

The effects loop is reserved for time-based effects - chorus, delay, modulation, etc.

Overdrive, distortion, compression, wah, etc should be used in front of the amp.

Thanks!

You really need to put gain pedals before the amp input. The signal level is MUCH higher in the loop and the tone stack is pre-loop. They are just not designed for the loop. This is why most people use 4CM.
