after some investigation, i realize my prri is NOT suffering from cab rattle like i initially thought- it is bass farts like others have described! when i set v5 b5 t5 it is mostly clean (a very moderate setting to be sure), but if i play 2-3 low notes together it makes a 'blapping' sound. the blap sound is not itself low freq, it's actually a buzz, but it only happens with low note chords. sounds like the spkr is shot....
i don't remeber my '69 sf pr doing that. i wish i still had it.

i plugged the prri into my lonestar spkr and my studio.22+ spkr and they both farted too!
so, it's obviously not the cab, nor the spkr-it's the prri circuit itself.
i'm very likely going to return my prri because of this farty bass.
too bad because it's almost a great amp-it sounds great babied. it also sounds great cranked-the farts are less noticeable when cranked because of the touch sensitive distortion which itself is excellent.
i'm unwilling to spend significant time and $ to upgrade it-it should've been great brand new for $900!!!
i've read about alot of remedies...
before i send it back, i just want to know if anyone thinks swapping the 12ay7 for the 12ax7 in v1 will fix this issue. i know some folks did that and re-did the baffle and the spkr and the ot. i'm not going to do all that. will just a 12ay7 save this?

i almost love this amp...

help!!
thanks!
