Hi, I've noticed the far two right power tubes in my Mark V do not sit flush in their sockets (V11 and V9). There is about 2-4 mm of the pins exposed. What is stranger is that when I move the V9 I can see V11 moving and vice versa. Also, I notice that when wiggling either tube (V9 or V11) the entire white socket moves left and right and up and down.

Is this normal or is something cracked/loose with these tube sockets?

Thanks,

Mace

A little flex is normal as the sockets sit on directly on a board - handle with care

Some tube pins are more of a snug fit than others, so may need a bit more gentle pursuasion to lock in. 2mm is no big deal, but I would re-seat anything above that

Thanks for the info. I guess what is strange is that the other two power tube sockets are rock solid, no wiggle at all. I'm wondering if the socket mounting board is cracked or something is not sitting correctly with V9 and V11. I know that a little flex is normal but I had not seen where flexing socket actually causes another socket to move on any of my other tube amps.

Thanks,

I get a little movement between 2 sockets on my Roadster and LSC heads when re-tubing a power valve. I always thought it was normal ..

I called boogie with the same issue. Its normal some tubes have a little metal on the actual pin that cause them not to seat fully. dont force them into the socket. If the pins show a little bit its ok. I think it was the actual tubes themselves they have some solder or metal on the sides of the pins that cause them not to fully seat its really weird. I was nervous about it for a bit but that was 2 years ago and no problems.
