Hi there, how many of you guys you power conditioners with your rigs? Besides the surge protection does it really quiet down your rig?

Cheers

I dont have one right now, but I plan on getting one sometime soon. I have a small tour coming up and that means being in venues that im not familiar with. I have no clue how well its wired or whats been invested into their electrical system. Because this tour is small, im not gonna be at top notch venues, so im not expecting top notch electricity.

It can quiet down your rig, specially if you know your electric outlets arent too great or consistent. But some people with a good electric system wont notice much if any difference in noise or tone.

But for the protection and consistency, I say they are worth it. Im willing to spend thousands on an amp, I dont see whyd I want to cheap out on taking care of it.

I would suggest a voltage regulator if you are going to play anywhere with suspect electricity. A conditioner doesn't cut it when it comes to providing protection. A conditioner will mostly clean up any noise generated from the power source, but if you want 'brown out' and overvoltage protection, go with a regulated output (preferably one with a 220 warning indicator).

I just bought a new Furman PL PLUS DMC power conditioner and it does help remove some noise and all radio interference problems I had been having with cellphones and stuff. At my house it didn't really make a big difference in clarity because I have all new electric run so it's not old crappy wiring but other places it can make a huge difference. It's definitely worth the money to protect your gear so I would highly recommend investing in one. I've used Furmans for years and they have worked great and I'm sure there are many other brands out there that will also give good results.

Oh yeah, im going with a conditioner and regulator, or a combo deal if they make those. I see a lot of stuff from Monster, but I always hear about Furman being some of the best. I just need to start saving up.

It made my rig sound quite a lot better. On the other hand, the state electricity supply over here has been suspect for many years due to several factors, but one significant one is the huge usage by the mining sector...

I could not agree with everyone here more. You owe it to yourself and your gear to protect it, even at home. Many a scares did I have at home with sudden power dips
and whatnot, but to date have not had a single problem thanks to the voltage regulators. Of course, during violent thunderstorms, I unplug everything just to be ultra safe.
