Power Conditioner for Mark III

hey guys,

I've read on a few forums that the Mark IIIs are very sensitive to incoming power and a bad outlet can make the thing sound gnarly. Anybody on the boards run power conditioners for their Marks? Do you feel that these make a difference? Thanks!

Power conditioners might help with noise, but that's about it.
You need a voltage regulator to ensure a consistent 117 VAC.
Voltage regulators, such as the Furman AR-1215, are much more expensive than so-called conditioners, which IMHO, are little better than a power strip with surge protection.
My experience is that wiring weirdness in different venues can cause the most problems.
Dimmer switches, fluorescents, older buildings, and outdoor gigs with generators have caused me grief, especially with single coils.

That goes for every amp under those conditions, not just the Mark III. I've used a Furman PC for years, but only for those unexpected jolts which hasn't happened yet ( knock on wood). Using a noise reduction like an ISP Decimator can really tame all that down to almost nothing -- good for breaks,pauses,etc. Never on when I'm playing though as in my experience it's a big tone sucker. But I think it's handyto always have both a nice power conditioner and a noise supply on hand regardless.
