can anyone compare the differences with the vintage 30's and the black shadows while playing the ED?
i play through a mesa 3/4 open back 1X12 with a black shadow. i was loving the tone coming from it paired up with my ED. i recently picked up a roadster head and plugged it into the cab. the roadster sounded alot warmer and less aggressive than i remembered my single rectifier sounding (which i played through with greenbacks). the bass also was very loose and farty with the roadster plugged into the cab. so that got me thinking...i wonder if the ED would sound even better with vintage 30's or greenbacks for that matter. or is it just that the roadster sounds nothing like single rectos???? any help would be much appreciated!

I have a recto 1x12 with a vintage 30.

The only big difference is when I play clean. This is where the combo cab sounds much better.

At low volumes on dirty, the recto might sound just a tad better, but it is negligable, and I think that may be due to the lower power rating which means it doesn't need to be pushed as hard as the 90 watt speaker in the cab.

so not much of a difference huh? interesting. i wonder if the open back of my cab is the reason for farty flubby bass response from the roadster, the dyne still kicks major a** through the cab though...of course :D

With the 212 combo- the cleans are just as amazing as the 112- probably because 2 speakers help with the bottom as well as sound "full". I do have an extra C90 that I will probably throw in my 212 in place of one of the V30s, but it sounds so good now that I forget I have it....
I just don't think you can go wrong with the ED...

I think that is more a feature of the ED cab itself then the speaker.

I think if I put the V30 into the combo the cleans would also sound great.

But with the Recto 1x12, it kind of loses the 3d feel of the cleans. Then again I'm pretty sure the recto 1x12 wasn't designed with cleans in mind.

Though the cleans still sound great through the Recto 1x12, just better through the ED combo cab
