Anyone ever tryed to dial in a nice blues setting with there mark V? I know that the Express 5:50 gives you a nice blues mode, is there a way to make the mark v do something similar to that?

It would be nice to find a sweet spot on my amp that gives me a blues setting.

The entirety of the Mark V is a sweet blues amp... with the exception of maybe the Extreme mode... although someone could probably post a clip and make me eat crow if they wanted to.

Seriously. People focus on the Mark V as a metal amp - which is surely excels at - but the Mark series is a killer blues platform. Fat, Tweed, Mark I and Mark IIC+ modes being standout options.

+1

You could easily dial in the whole amp as a blues amp. On channel 3, put the mid and bass up, keep the treble and gain down, and try either playing without the GEQ or with something other than the V setting. See the Haggerty videos on channel 2 for some settings on edge and crunch, or, better yet, just use Mark I in normal mode. Tweed and fat both do great blues sounds.

I like low wattage with Tweed, Edge, or Crunch mode the most.

Tweed mode is most sexy for blues. But with the right settings, either channel can offer some nice blues tones. MKV is not just a metal amp, like others have pointed out.

Anyone care to share there setting to get a great blues sound. Some seem tweed mode is the way to go. I will have to mess around with my amp this week and see if I can dial in something that pleases me in either the 1st or 2nd channels.

I really like Tweed, 45w, tube, bass and mids up and treble down with the reverb at 10-12 oclock. Although with a little knob turning you will find great blues tones in Fat and all of CH2 as well. The MV is a tweakers amp - play with those knobs!

These are my settings for a nice "blues " sound with a strat with low output mics.
They are pretty bright for playing at low volume but any how.
This first is "SRV" type of tone. The high setting on the treble is the SRV-key. The 1:st channel is on Tweed-bold, 2:nd on edge and, 3:rd on extreme-pentode,bright on, all channels are on 10 w setting, no eq on but the GEQ setting you can see is really nice for a soloboost with extra breakup.

These settings are kind of Matt Schofield settings, again with a Strat, low output mics and again maybe a little too bright for loud volume cause these are for "home and don´t want to disturb anyone"-volume.
The 1:st channel is on Tweed-bold 90 w, 2:nd on Mark I-normal 10 w and, 3:rd on extreme-pentode,bright on 45 w, on the 3:rd channel Mark IV and IIC+ gives more breakup.

Take care and thanks for all the help I´ve gotten from this forum since I got my Mark V only 2 months ago. I changed from the Express 5:50. A nice amp but what can I say....Mark V.... yeah you know. so far I´ve managed to nail all possible tones. Bye bye for now and Merry New Year greetings from Sweden!!!
