So a buddy of mine who is more insane that I am about chasing tone picked up a SLO this past week. He is a big Marshall guy! Also a big Splawn and Bogner lover. :)
I brought over my Recto. He had the Slo tuned and biased and ready to go. We were able to crank up too.

Killer amp! However, I didn't think it had anything on the new Recto which I find to be a dynamite amp. The new Recto solos better than any Rectifier I have played, including the Roadster. Only exception was a great 1998 Rectoverb I played that was stellar.

The SLO, well I hate, hate the line level loop. I use analog pedals so it is a show stopper. The tone was great but I found the Rectifier to sound bigger, the SLO was more cutting......but I also was not thrilled with how it was voiced overall - not what I was expecting.

The beauty of the new Rectifier is really obvious when in a band setting. Sounds MONSTEROUS!

I will try to post some more later, just in a rush at the moment....

I used to have a Rectoverb and got an SLO in the hopes of giving me the more Marshally sound the Rectoverb wasn't doing. Boy was I wrong.

The SLO has an incredibly great lead channel. It sings, it has a wonderful natrual decay that doesn't need reverb, and it very literally goes to 11.

Outside of that, it didn't do much of anything. I was able to dial the Rectoverb to sound like the SLO, but not the other way around. The SLO is 100% one trick pony. And even though it's a really, really nice pony, it ain't worth the price. I ended up selling it and have not for one second regretted it.

I sold the Rectoverb as well and regret it just about every day... :(
