I've been jamming and dialing a non PHAT Mod Triaxis all week. I bought a PHAT mod version to compare.....
Got the new one today and hit Factory preset one and BLAH! Hardly any gain or crunch... is this it!?
If what I'm hearing is the FAT Mod, it sounds like sh!t! I'm thinking somethings wrong with my unit.... I can't imagine what I'm hearing is it. What I'm hearing sounds like a farty overly bassy Lead 1 yellow mode but a tad brighter.....I thought this was the Recto Mode? .... Now maybe my mistake is I'm hoping for the Recto Red channel and this being the Recto Orange channel it sounds this way..... is this the deal? :?: :?: :?:  :?

ps
I did try retubing the unit to no avail.

I guess the best way to describe the tones I'm hearing would be almost exactly like Lead 1 Yellow. :?
Going between the Lead 1 Yellow and Lead 1 Red sounds 98% the same. :?

Ouch !...I hope someone else can chime in to this as well BUT, I have the V2.0 w/Phat mod and the LD1 yellow sounds nothing like LD1 Red. In fact, today I was screwing around with my DR 3channel right next to my rack setup....I got pretty damn close to the DR's 2nd channel vintage mode. Guess the TriAxis in LD1 red just doesnt have that(for lack of better terms) compressed buzz.if thats what you were hoping to hear.
Go back and read the manual to give you some setting hints. I have never run the Dynamic Voice mode any higher than 4.5 to 7.0 on the LD1 red channel & like I said it was "damn close" to my 3channel DR head.
If you'd like to share some thoughts further, send me a private message & we'll go from there.

followup;
I had forgotten that the settings on all the "factory presets"
are set to 0.0 on the Dynamic Voice parameter.

Try this; Lead 1 Red,
Gain-7.5
Treble-8.0
Middle-3.5
Bass-7.5/9.0( depending where you set the Dynamic Voice)
Lead 1 Drive-6.0
Lead 2 Drive- 0.0
Master-5.5
Presence- 8.0/10(again,depending where you set the Dynamic Voice)
Dynamic Voice- 4.5/6.5( to your own liking)

I have some real killer settings for the Lead 2 Green & Yellow using very high Dynamic Voice settings(above 7.0)....that seems to be the "key element" on the TriAxis....even a 1.0 setting on clean channel settings is a big noticeable differance.
Have fun !

Okay- it's sounding better now!
I had to use extreme settings to get it to sound decent. But at least I can see there isn't anything wrong with the unit.
I assumed it would sound good thru the full bandwidth of each knob. Not the case. (Lead 2 Yellow and Red do to my ears)
Maybe I prefer the Non PHAT version? Time will tell. Nice to have BOTH to test out.

Yeah, you do have to set the Parameters pretty high to achive bliss on the LD 1 Red mode.
You own BOTH versions of the Triaxis?...damn dude.(I'm jelouse)
Watched the video....sweety playing, but the numbers you were calling out, were they the presets on the TriAxis?

The video was made for me to compare presets, so YEA I was calling out Presets for myself.

I've had most success with Lead RED 2. Than again my 2:90 doesn't come until next week. I'm running it thru the Diezel FX Loop in. Who knows though, maybe it'll be better than the 2:90!

Preset 44 is:
7.5 6.5 3.0 3.0 0.0 7.5 4.0 4.0 5.5 LD Red 2

I've retubed the Triaxis with some Mullards and Groove Tube M's.

Once you get your power amp...wait till you hear it in stereo....INSTANT HARDON !!!

Can't wait! All I've been doing in free time is dialing presets, retubing etc. I'm holding onto my TC GForce so I can hear the nice TC Chorus too in (((STEREO))). I'll probably sell the PHAT MOD version since I've dialed in the Non Phat.

I run thru a Alesis quadraverb Q2 & the damn thing just lit up to life once it went true stereo!
I had the G major..and found it not as easy to program blocks/patches
as the Q2.
When you hear them delays panning left and right, you'll wonder
what the hell you did before playing in mono.

Must admit I've been (((stereo))) before... GEARAHOLIC.

I have both versions {FAT and NON FAT} and I HATE the fat version . I found that I have to dial in extreme settings to achieve "close" to the sound of the non fat. I got the non fat version 1st and bought a fat cause I couldnt pass up the deal. Sorry to say I reversed it back within a few days. I have a dual rec head and the fat sounds nothing like it {I also use the 2:100 p.a.}.For ALOT of ppl the fat mod sounds great, but it absolutely does NOT sound like an early orange channel dual rec. I am not 100% sure but I dont think the brand new ones come with the fat mod,if that helps.

Hi there, new to the Triaxis world as I just got mine a few weeks ago. Is there any clips posted some where comparing the difference? can ya post a link?

Anyhoo, I tend to love the Mark IIC and Mark IV modes the best for my over drive. Here are some clips. It really was a video of my new custom explorers but I miced at the rehearsal studio and made clips so all the tone clips are the Triaxis, 2:90, G-Force and an X2 wireless. Thanks guys :)

This like a 2 year old thread. The PHAT mode is PHAT or MUDD on the recto channel. Never liked it myself. Been since I posted this thread since I tried them side by side.

Thanks, yeah I was searching on google and this thread came up. Thanks though :)
