My roadster tends to have a fit of these bizarre cracking noises. It literally sounds aliens talking "zzzzzzzwwwoooooobbbbbbbbbbbggggeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr"

Pre amp tube problem I suppose? I just changed out my V1 recently so it's not V1. My other tubes are not that old either.

start with your instrument cable first. try swapping cables. if after checking the cables still crackling then check all your power tubes including the recto tubes.

Sounds like a bad preamp tube. And just because V1 is new doesn't mean its not bad. I have had 3 or 4 out-of-the-box bad preamp tubes. Switch V1 out and I bet it will go away.

Be sure to eliminate things like cables/effects/guitar first. Go straight-up, guitar-->cable-->amp-->speaker. This could even be power-line noise. Are you using any kind of power conditioner? Try an outlet on a different circuit and see if the noise stops.

Have you tried the "Pencil Tap" test to locate a bad tube?

Well the thing is, when i had my single recto, this also happened. And even before i switched out my V1 it happened.

It probably is my cable, im surprised though since its a planet waves and its really durable.

I have opened a few cables an found that inside where they solder them can be very subjective. I don't trust any cable for any reason or price and usually just use reasonably priced cables and re solder them when I get them.

Anyway, like with the new tube, regardless of the name on it, it could be bad, even if it's new and no matter who's name is on it giving a false sense of perfection.

What, high quality connectors? One I opened the other day had a cracked grounding lug. Splaying the lugs for inspection broke it off upon touch. I only opened it to change to an angled connector and found I was fixing not just changing.

Don't even get me started on tubes!

Jaded? Yes! I'm pretty sick of corporate America maximizing profit and creating a disposable world to proliferate that profit by selling cheap products disguised as quality products using a recognized name that had a reputation at one time.
