I bought a used Mesa/Boogie Mark III. Above the power cord there is an orange dot. I cannot find any information on an "orange stripe" Mark III.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Which is it?
Dot or stripe?

If it's a stripe rather than a dot, I'd bet it's a red stripe that has faded. All of the red stripes I've seen have been pretty orange-y with age. Hell, I would think my blue stripe was a green stripe if I hadn't seen actual green stripes before. That's what happens when you're classifying electronics equipment using 25-year-old magic marker stripes. :)

At any rate, you may be able to call Mesa with the serial number and/or the date from the chassis and find out what phase they were in at that time.
