Orange Stripe on Mark III?

I bought a used Mesa/Boogie Mark III. Above the power cord there is an orange dot. I cannot find any information on an "orange stripe" Mark III.

Does anyone know anything about this?

An embroyonic red stripe that hasn't reached maturity yet???

If it's a stripe rather than a dot, I'd bet it's a red stripe that has faded. All of the red stripes I've seen have been pretty orange-y with age. Hell, I would think my blue stripe was a green stripe if I hadn't seen actual green stripes before. That's what happens when you're classifying electronics equipment using 25-year-old magic marker stripes.

At any rate, you may be able to call Mesa with the serial number and/or the date from the chassis and find out what phase they were in at that time.

what are the first few digits of the serial number? that may help narrow it down
