Anyone using this?Thinking of picking one up,mostly for cleans.Have the 2x12 recto but not mad on the cleans from it.How does it compare to the lonestar 1x12?Cheers

It sounds great. If you're primarily interested in the cleans then you're playing into its strengths. The MC90 speaker that's in it has more top and bottom end, with a more relaxed midrange than the V30s in the Recto cab. I like it for cleans, edge of breakup, crunch and lead. I favor the Recto cab for modern, chugging guitars.

The Widebody and LoneStar cabs are more or less the same with different cosmetics.

Ya,I have had a lonestar special before with the C90 in it.I had it for a week along with the Mark v and much preferred the cleans on the V when i connected it up the the speaker in lonestar.I then traded the lonestar for the recto cab and cash and instantly knew the cleans were taking a hit(imo).Do you reckon replacing one v30 with a C90 in the recto cab would be a good idea? Can pick one up for a lot cheaper than getting a widebody.I also liked the gain channels through the C90.I have bad memories of the v30 when i had the stiletto ace combo.Having said that I do like to have a V30 as an option as I do a lot of recording and it does cut through live etc.

The C90 in a closed back cab will have a different response to an open back cab. More dampened and less lively.

Additionally, I find mixing speakers in an enclosure causes a loss in clarity. I think it's because they're fighting each other so neither gets to respond optimally.

I have a C90 and a V30 in a vertical recto 2x12 right now. The V30 dominates, it was hard to tell it even changed when I swapped in the C90. I don't know if they "fight", but the C90 is definitely a different beast in a closed cab. The lows are significantly limited by the cab volume I think.

I have a couple of 3/4 2x12 cabs, one with V30 and one with C90. They both have way more low-end than the recto 2x12, and even than my horizontal recto 2x12 with two G12K85. The recto cabs have a mid punch, but not much low end. The 3/4 with V30 has a lot more low end than you would expect from a V30 and the 3/4 with C90 shakes the house. But they both lack the tight, clear punch or the recto cabs.

I have a couple widebody closed-back ported 1x12 cabs, one with V30 and one with C90, and those sit somewhere in between the 3/4 2x12 and the recto 2x12. More low end than the recto cabs, but more high sizzle than the 3/4 2x12.

They're all great, honestly.

Interestingly, in a given cab I can use the GEQ in my Mark V and get the ones with V30 to sound pretty similar to the ones with C90 by adjusting 80 and 6600 sliders (this is just comparing same cab to same cab with different speakers). I could not get the open back to sound like the closed back because the dynamics are completely different. I can get the frequency balance similar, but the open and closed cabs sound completely different.

In the end I like the recto cabs for their punch, but the V30s in there are too piercing. And the open-back and ported cabs I like way better for cleans. They almost add a shimmer/reverb to the cleans. The closed cabs sound kind of dead on clean, where they add life to crunch.
