Opinions on Peavey XXX?

I want something I can play Swedish melodeath on and there's a couple floating around locally for good prices... looking for a non-Recto modern tone, I've had a couple of Rectos and I always fall out of love with them real fast.

Youtube videos sound good, like a slightly thicker, middier 5150, and after my main amps for years being JCM800s and Mark IIIs I like the idea of independent EQ lol. Anyone got any experience with these bad boys?

I used to use a Peavey 3120 years ago, same amp different cosmetics and shipped with El34s instead of 6l6s. It's a good amp certainly enough gain for what you want to play on either of the gain channels. Clean channel is bland, but that's not what the amp is really for. It's also very reliable, I used mine for some pretty heavy gigging for several years without a single issue.
