Hello, new to this forum. I am hoping that someone may be able to help me with an answer to an issue I am having w/ my Road King series 2. To start with, I love the amp (this is acually my second one I had a series 1 a while ago). Just recently I started having noise in channels 1 and 2. It is kind of a static like noise or the sound you might get when you have a bad or pooly seated cable. There is no noise on channels 3 or 4 other than the normal hiss I have always had on these high gain channels. On channel 1 I am using a pair 6L6 tubes, on 2 a pair of EL34 and the noise is identical. Are there shared pre amp tubes for these channels and could a bad tube or tubes be the problem? I am not using any of the loops. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would say it is a preamp tube, if you have an extra preamp tube that you know is good, you can trouble shoot by replacing each preamp tube starting from V1 and going up in sequence until you find the culprit. I would think it would be in the first 2-3 preamp tubes, but could be wrong. That is the best way to check to see if it is a preamp tube issue without replacing them all at once with new tubes. Hope this helps

hello and thanks for the tips on my noisey ch's 1 and 2. It was either V1, V2, or V3, I replaced all three and the noise is gone. thanks for the help! :D

Rock on man, glad it is fixed!
BTW that is quite an impressive list of amps and guit-fiddles you have in your siggy. Would love to see some pics of those sometime! :D
