Hi guys,

I'm looking to get some new tubes for my Rect-o-verb 50 combo (just as a backup set), but I have no idea about tubes and was wondering if you could recommend the best ones to get that will work and sound good in my amp.

There seem to be so many on the market and I really don't know which ones to use. I've always used solid state amps and this is my first real tube amp. I love it!

I know which types of tubes I need to get but there are so many brands etc out there, it's really confusing me. I'd ideally like to be able to buy a pack of all the tubes I need - rather than having to individually choose them myself.

Thanks in advance! :D

Welcome to the forum, I've got the same amp. You can search the forum for lots of info on tubes recommended by others. Since tube amps are fairly new to you I would just suggest going to eurotubes.com and purchase a full tube kit for your rectoverb. I usually go with the JJ high-gain 6L6 kit.

Thanks a bunch Mike :) That's great!

I can't seem to find my amp listed under the Mesa retube kit section - the closest I can find is the Trem-o-verb combo pack - would that be suitable?

Thanks again!

No, its the same tube kit as the Single Rectifier Solo 50

The tremoverb has way more tubes than you need

I highly recommend Elctro-Harmonix 12ax7 preamp tubes along with Winged C 6L6 power tubes. Recto love that combo.

I just got my rectoverb and it came with Grovetubes for 12ax7s and Rubys for the 6L6s. I order JJs 12ax7 and TAD powertubes to try.

I have played through a rectoverb for about 5 years now, and tried a few different tubes along the way, but I usually just stick to mesa tubes. that seems to be the sound I like. I did try some winged C's, and they were very nice. If you get them through the tube store, just send them the tube grade that's in your amp (yellow, grey, blue, etc) and they will send you tubes that are the right bias.
