Hi all,
got a Dual Rectifier 3ch. head on the way. I've been reading the users manual and had a question about the tubes. I never knew before that Mesa biased their amps in this way, but it is definitely a cool concept. Since Mesa tubes are released only within a certain tolerance to best fit the bias of the amp, what are the potential downsides to equipping the amp with non-Mesa tubes? I understand that if the bias is a little off, the tubes could run hot or cold depending. Is this the only issue I'd face? Or is there something else to be concerned about?
Another quick question related to preamp tubes: Are Mesas just like the vast majority of other amps out there when it comes to preamp tubes? Meaning, can you just mix and match all you want without issue until you find the right tone for you? Thanks guys.
