New to Mesa - 3 channel dual rect with black face?

Hi all,

Am currently using a Genz Benz El Diablo 100 but can't take the nasaly tone anymore and have settled on buying a 3 channel dual rectifer. I have found one locally that has been recently serviced and all seems okay. The one thing strange about the amp is that the face isn't the usual chrome treadplate/vertical grille, but black instead. I know that this was sometimes seen on older 2 channel dual rectifiers, but has anyone ever seen a newer 3 channel amp with this factory option, assuming it is a factory option?

Sounds like a custom order or aftermarket mod to me...

I've seen some 3 channels like that. They were all custom orders though. I played an El Diablo at a couple dates on a festival once. Genz Benz was one of the sponsors and provided the backline. It wasn't bad, but I was very happy to get back home to my Recto...

check serial number, and see what year is it from

Nothing unusual about that. It's still a custom option.
