Hi guys! My first post here
I Got my first mesa! Mesa Mark Iv!
I exchanged it with my marshall JCM 800 2204!
I like it alot but i think I haven't heard it to the max..
I have a epiphone les paul goth with a seymour duncan invader in it!
But I just can't get my lead tone good :?
It sounds too 'marshally' ! With the EQ too :?
I'd like it a bit more like master of puppets!
Any help please ? :(

Oh yeah some pics!

Not an option yet :p
Don't you have any good settings ?
And what's wrong with carpet covering :p

It looks like an Ewok.

The power cord has been changed too, or what is that white cable. What kind of life did it lead before you got it? With a carpet recovering, I would wonder. Where is the speaker?

Download the manual from www.mesaboogie.com.

There are some good tips that should get you going without having
to rely on public opinion.

The power chord is grey..
I don't know what life it lead before I got it!
But it's you back from a major job at Van Weelden in Nederlnad (europe).

yeah I saw the manual already but I find it hard to get started :?
Any good tips for metallica tones ?

Gain 9
Treble 7 Pulled
Bass 1 3/4
Mids 4
Master 4.5 Pulled
Lead Drive 7 Pulled
Lead Master 5 Pulled
Presence 4.5

Put the EQ in a big old V shape and ditch the Invader.

I was thinking the same about the invader, but what would be a good replacement ? Just some nice tight distortions..

Nope. It has alot of character.....it's just a charater that alot of people don't like. It has very little bass and alot of midrange and treble. Mesa's love these pickups.

I have and EMG 81 in the bridge of my LP and an EMG 85 in the neck position. This coupled with a Mesa (I have a MkIII) will give you the Metallica Master of Puppets no problem.

The EMGs are quite 'hot' pickups, are very reactive to high gain, as well as picking style and palm muting.

They also sound great with a clean sound - very dynamic and responsive.

In my opinion, they are the best pickups around. :)

I have your solution: 412

I play it on a marshall 1960 cab :)
So EMG's are the way to go ? I'm only going for the bridge!
81 of 85 or 89 ? For in a Epiphone les paul goth?

I don't like the 85 in the bridge. To bassy, and it slurs your mutes together.

I tend to think of the 89 as more of a neck pickup, since it'll give you access to both single coil and humbucker neck tones.

Who's is that ?
thanks

Those would be my personal setting for my Mark IV. You are more than welcome to try them as a starting point for your tweeking. I twist some knobs here and there, but these are the setting I always come back to. It's my sound. :)
