hey folks! i've been lurking for a while (just one post), so i thought i'd post up with a hello and some gear pics.

i've had my Nomad since about 2004. i bought it used off a guy from Lexington, KY, who was trying to sell it quick to get a TriAxis. i made out like a bandit! i was definitely pleased with it when i got it, and it made my effects pedal (ART XtremePlus) sound great. then i retubed with some high gain preamp JJ's (i got the matching JJ power tubes as well), and wow. i haven't touched that pedal in about a solid year.

the G-Major is, of course, in the effects loop. when i bought the amp, i recall the guy handing me a cable, saying, "you can change g-major channels with this," and i had no idea what he was talking about . however, once i got the g-major, it was quite apparent that that little cable was going to save me a world of headaches. it has a 5-pin midi male on one end, and a 1/4" jack at the other, and works beautifully with the G-Major with channel changing on the amp. out of curiosity, do any of you Nomad users out there have a cable like this? i know another guy from another forum who wants one made, and i have no idea what to tell him :?

if i had the bread, i'd grab a Mark IV head and a Lonestar, since those are the two amps i try to emulate with my Nomad :)

long story short(er?), i can't wait to sop up some Mesa knowledge :D.

oh, the name is Leon.

how do you like that g-major...i was looking to buy one a little while ago but havent been able to use it to see how much i liked it and how it sounds. can you tell me what u think of it and what r some pro's and con's you've noticed with it. thanks

i love it! the effects are top shelf, and it's dead quiet in the FX loop. there's hardly any loading time at all inbetween patch changes. only Eric Johnson would be able to hear if there were any delay :)

there is a slight drop in volume, but hey, that's not a bad thing living in an apartment playing a Boogie :D. if need be, i can boost the gain on a patch (slightly, as adding gain after the preamp isn't recommended as per the user manual) to get a louder volume.

that's really the only downside that i can hear, as far as the tone goes. there's a more situational problem i'm encountering... where do i set the damn thing! i may need to get some sort of stand for it. not sure yet.

bottom line, it was well worth the money.

Hi Leon,

Cool rig and welcome to the Boogie Board. 8) I get a huge amount of fun too out of the G-Major and Behringer FCB1010 I run with my F-50. Regarding the cable to switch the Nomad from the G-Major, your friend may be interested in checking out this link from the TC Electronic Support site.

For more on how I use the G-Major and the FCB1010, you may be interested in checking out this thread over at HC. :)

Big smiles,

Andy.

thanks Dann! it's bookmarked.

hey Dylan! yeah, Nomads rule, but i'm thirsting for a Mark IV :D

...but since i won't sell my Nomad for one, it might take me a while to save up for one :p
