Hello,
I was just lucky enough to buy a mark IIC+ from the original owner. It is a blonde head with a matching 1x12 cab. Still has the original tubes and never left his house. It looks like it just came out of the box. no reverb or eq but boy does it have tone.

my question is since the tubes are the originals should I replace them? It sounds great. Are the old tubes worth trying to save, i.e: should I pull them and keep them for future value or just play it like it was meant to be played. I had band practice last night and have never sounded so good.

thanks,
mooch

If you have STR-415's they are Phillips/Sylvania 6L6GC's and have an average lifespan of like 10,000 + hours. These tubes can be good under normal use for decades. If the guy played the amp for 22 years and averaged 4 hours per week, the tubes have 4500 hours on them. That's good to me. If you want to try other tubes, enjoy !!!! :D
