Ok well i have recently purchased a 1995 2 channel dual rectifier pretty sure its right before the transformer switch. Anyway here is my problem i have no idea what the 'signature tone" is that everyone talks about, I used to have a 3 channel it was a 2003 and i can tell the 95 amp has much better tone i just don't know how to dial it in. My other guitarist is using one of those line 6 bogners which i tried for a month and hated too loud and processed sounding. We play rock alice n chains chevelle ish stuff so i want a nice lush satuarated tone here is our facebook page if you want to here the music and give some pointers or any advice at all would really help me we have a showw in 2 weeks

As a starting point, start on Channel 2 (Modern Red) and dial in as follows:

Volume: To taste
Presence: 11:00
Bass: 11:30
Mid: 11:00
Treble: 12:00
Gain: 12:00-1:00

And I highly recommend you download and read the manual from Mesa's website.

IMO, the "signature" Rectifier tone requires use of the Recto cab (preferably slant). I have a few other cabs and none of them achieve "that" sound like the Recto 4x12 does.

Hey thanks for the replies i do have an oversized recto cab and i am using shcecters the triple x and the exotic emgs 81/60 the 81 is in the neck no boost just a isp g string and a morely wah it sounded good at practice today i also just retubed it with mesa tubes 6l6 yellow and the preamp tubes without the rubber coating if that helps running in bold and using the diode tracking so if you have any more suggestions let me know

haha i do have the 81s in the neck and i wrote that last reply at like 6am wasn't worried about sentance structure

+1 on reading the manual, and trying a couple sample settings as a launching point.

I have an ESP with EMGs in it. I have a Roadster head and Recto 412 cab. I use a boost. I have a MXR Classic OD (which is a Zakk Wylde OD and GT-OD in one case). Anyway, I run the level full up, the gain at 0 (or barely cracked on) and tone at noon. This punched the front end of the amp in a very good way. The Roadsters gain is set around noon, maybe 1 o'clock. This gives the gain a raunchy character that I really like. It tightens up the bass just a bit too. You can leave it on all the time, and it won't interfere with your cleans too much once you get the amps channels dialed in.

Good luck!

Hey thanks alot everyone i used the sample from the net and have a tone i really like i everyones advice helped no if i can get my singer to turn his amp down life would be awsome
