Hi all, first time poster here, and just bought my very first mesa boogie amp yesterday (mark V head with 4x12 rectifier cabinet).

the head and cab seem to be working fine at the 90 watt setting but I am getting no sound whatsoever at the 10 watt setting. If I look at the back, it looks like all 4 power tubes are glowing, my understanding is only the two middle ones are used so should be the only ones glowing?

If someone could help me troubleshoot, I'd really appreciate it. Don't know enough about tube amps to figure out whether its something wrong with the amp, the wrong switch is flipped, or i've got the wrong connection made to the cabinet.

Really hoping you guys can help me figure this out :|

I'm guessing it's the rectifier tube. Switch to 45 watt mode, set to "tube rectifier" on the back and see if you have sound. If not switch off of "tube rectifier" on the back and see if sound comes back.

Switched from "tube" to "diode" on the back and the sound came roaring through...

i guess i have to ask the store to either replace the tubes or give me another one....thanks Jeff, that was super helpful!

I don't remember right off hand what the warranty is on the tubes but, if you recently bought the amp you should have no problem getting the tube for free.

Just picked the amp and cab up yesterday, and was trying out things last night when I realized the 10watt setting was not producing any sound.

Anyhow, spoke to the sales guy who I got it from and I'm taking the amp in tomorrow afternoon to get it checked out. He said if its something other than the tube/tubes then he will just get a new one for me.

Thanks alot for your help guys, looking forward to learning from and hopefully sharing with the forum
