sigh...i like a company that doesn't rest on its laurels, but sometimes i don't think what comes out is much different than what is already offered. granted i need to see these new ta series amps in person...idk, looks like the royal atlantic looks like a bastard child of the express and the electradyne. i'm curious to see what they are using to do the power soak. probably just a resistive dummy load. idk, this isn't really my cup of tea. i'll stick w/ the mark v.

Ok so heres the update i promised if anyone is actually reading this thread that i made. I played the new mesa amp at there stall and much to my chagrin i did not like it. Mostly because my style of playing has no business playing an amp with that type of voicing. i felt like it was an upgraded trans atlantic. HOWEVER something happened today that i thought would never happen again i got a HORRIBLE case of gas. I got to play the new jp7 for 2011 through an axe fx ultra unit and then the mark V and i prefered the axe over the mark each time... So i guess this means im selling my mark v . I blame misha mansoor the guitarist from periphery and producer of Animals as leaders because he setup the axe fx ultra to his tone settings and i played it after he got done.. However ill post again tomorrow to see if i cant change my mind and keep my Mark v . P.S. The new jp guitar for 2011 is amazingly sexy and sounds amazing as always.

The new JP model looks sweet, I tried the JPX 10 but didn't really like it. There is also something about a guitar or amp that is a "Signature" series that just turns me off. I want to be play gear that doesn't have someone elses name on it, and no, I'm not talking about stuff like "les paul" and "marshall", just artists such as JP, Slash, EVH, etc.

Hi as Axe owner I would never talk you out of it,its perfect-only down side is you need a lot of time to tweak it

Roland

I have a Axe Fx Ultra and a Mark V right now. Would not sell my Mark V if I was only able to keep one. The Axe Fx is good but will never replace a high quality amp in my opinion unless you are going to do recording on your computer or something like that. The Axe Fx swallows up many hours each time I sit down with it but most is spent tweaking rather than playing. Mark V is plug and play. Get both if at all possible to get best of both worlds, look at the standard version to save some money.
