Just got my Mesa Boogie Mark IV-a combo this morning..

All I could say is :twisted: :lol:

Best sounding amp for me!!..

I love how it sounds on Pentode/Simul-Class/Harmonics with Pulled Fat & Bright Out on the Lead Channel + V-shape GEQ sounds superb!!. Very tight, crunchy and smooth.

I think the Rhythm 1 sounds a little bit compressed? but very chimey. I opt to use it without the GEQ.

Im still tweaking the rhythm 2 channel for my taste. Iv'e noticed this channel is quite similar to the Lead Channel of my DC-3.

btw it came with a new set of JJ 12ax7 tubes and 2 Mesa 6L6/EL34.. is there a difference between changing the JJ to the stock mesa tubes?.. the seller told me the he retubed it with JJ's for added gain?.

As of now im really contented with it, but planning to swap the speakers for a Celestion V30.

Currently, stock Mesa tubes are relabeled JJs.

JJs are typically lower in gain than most other 12AX7s in production. They're also darker sounding and some people complain they produce a "Blanket over the cab" effect in terms of dulling your sound. That said, others like them because they're smoother than brighter, higher gain preamp tubes.

deffinitely the best! :twisted: im still tweaking haha.. i tried plugging in my generic cheapo 7 string and kabam! sounds amazing.. even with the crappy pickups.

So i tried replacing the current JJ preamp tubes. i hear a slight volume drop but no difference in gain. maybe the JJ's si alot middier?.. maybe a drop in mid? :lol:
