Just acquired a Roadster - pulled it open to test tubes and general cleaning.Trying to figure out what this screw is for? It doesn't seem to be attached to anything above or below the chassis.

Thanks

Interesting.

Mine doesn't have that bolt... nor does it have the hole for the bolt to go through.

I'd call Mesa and ask. I kind of suspect it was used during manufacturing and was supposed to be removed prior to shipping, but truthfully I don't really know.

Yeah - it definitely is from the factory - not something someone else added. It has the same chassis mounted nut as the others do. I'll try Mesa. Though they haven't been too helpfull to date trying to get a schematic for the Roadster.

Isn't that the screw that presses up to the bottom side of the cabinet top to reduce chassis vibration :?:

That's what I suspected at first but I thought it would be better implemented than a long screw tightened up against thin foil. Guess I was wrong
Thanks for the link.

I've read that the screw was to complete the ground circuit, but my ROV chassis already has 4 round headed sheet metal screws, one near each corner, that make contact with the foil...sort of. The foil gets chewed up by these screws, so one cannot be sure that contact is being made.
I figured a proper fix would be to remove the foil and contact cement (so it didn't rattle) a sheet of .020" aluminum in there, in place of the foil. But instead, I screwed narrow strips at the outside ends, over the chewed up areas that contact the chassis, and installed a short screw into that nut so it wouldn't rattle.

The screw is a common with the combo version. I have a similar screw on the chassis of my recent RA100 combo, and the head does not have it. As for the Roadster head, same thing, no screw or captivated nut in the chassis. My guess about the screw is to provide tension on the center of the chassis to eliminate vibration for use in the combo. I highly doubt that its sole purpose is to complete a ground or to connect the heat shield on the wood surface.
