Its not the guitar or anything else its the head because I have several other 100 watt heads, but this one is extremely sensitive and squeels like mad once i get to a reasonable volume. Is this head normally a rather squeely head?

setting are nothing out of the ordinary, pentode, simu class. high gain channel, lead gain 8 (pulled), treble 8, mids 4, bass 3, lead drive 8 pulled, master 5 and up, ouput level 4 and up, mid gain, full or half power, eq on with most knobs just under the the line that is above the mid line, so basically the highest line except for the very top.

I dont think it really has much to do with my settings as these are pretty common settings. it squeels even when im outside the room if it is turn up loud... basically its ridiculous past half volume.

May be an problem with one of your pre amp tubes. You could try swapping them out one by one...
Also what kind of cab are you using. With my experience the more speakers, the better it is about the feedback.

does it still ring out after you cut the volume on your guitar?

If I set my IV up like you said it well feedback like crazy. All of them do.

Back off on the gain/treble/presence and / or turn your volume down around 2 .... like most people do. Having you EQ up is not helping ether. That may help. All of this is covered in the manual.

Some preamp tubes well make this problem worse.

If I read your settings right, you have the push/pulls all pulled (bright, etc...) and the volume up pretty high. the manual says the amp will squeal and "spin out" at high volume with the knobs pulled. It seems to me you just have "too much" going on, with the GEQ, volume and pulled tone knobs, at least the way the manual suggests.

I find on my MkIV with the overall master in the 2-4 range, I can have the knobs pulled, but any higher and the amp opens up and you don't need them; in fact, the amps sounds worse. I guess when you crank it, it squeals.
Good luck.

man as you get that loud with the 4 (and you have it CRANKED..even gigs i play dry dude, i have it in full power/simul/triode/harmonics...main out 3., channel volume 2.5 max..and im usually told to turn down)..as you get that loud, you MUST compensate by rolling back the drive a bit, maybe a pinch of treble..and make sure the bright switch is pushed in...my settings (for a lead tone) are as follows..never any unwanted squeel..

gain 8 pulled, treble 8, bass 1, mid 5, drive 6 IN, presence 0.5 IN, channel volume 2.4ish and main output volume at 3 (this is as loud as I EVER need to go..and thats for shows with a max capacity of like 170 people.. and thats my lead tone to cut through the entire mix..unless ur playing for thousands of people you don't need to crank that high man..but if you wanna go deaf while still sounding good..roll back the drive and treble)
