So i'v had my 2x12 recto cab for while, played it with my single for a few months with no problem.
Today i was playin with the dual recto cranked. Fucking loud. Then i smelled burned electronics. Then i kneeled down and my fucking left speaker wasnt working. Sure enough, its dead. ****, it was an english made one too.

Sooo. I put a pair of my swamp thangs in there. I figure they are 150 watts a piece, 300 total. So i put them in there, and crank the fucker. Sounds great. Then i smell burning again. The left speaker again. Its still working, but what the fucking **** is the deal here?

I can see it perhapse eating a v30 with 100 watts into 120watts of speakers(the cab is pristine though, even with the tags), but i'm having the same issue with 300 watts? I would say something is wrong with the amp, but it sounds great.

Only piece of info I can give you is that a Rectifier is capable of pushing low frequencies below the rati g of most speakers. 9 out of 10 speakers are blown from frequencies outside of their range being pushed through them before wattage blows them. You can melt a 500watt subwoofer with a 100watt amp pushing high frequencies through it.

Make sure the amp's impedance is set correctly.

It is interesting that the "left" speaker went twice. That's not an amp issue, I wonder if the cabinet wiring is correct. You may be putting way more power into one speaker than the other. Check the connections in the cabinet carefully, with an Ohmmeter if you have one. Could be a factory defect, don't assume it's OK just because it's in new condition. If they missed a solder joint, you will get sound out of both speakers (from the wire touching) but you'll get most of the actual power into only one speaker.
