Best part is, I bought if off a guy on craigslist here in Chicago for $1450, near mint, only a year and a half old, and played only a few hours a day at low/moderate levels.

one time i had a chance to buy a black face Dual recto with standard recto cab for 1300, you can usually find good deals like that on craigslist :D

A deal, but not the best.

I bought a Voodoo Modded Recto with Mesa 4x12 for $1000 locally about a year back

Hey Eric, how'd the Voodoo modded DR sound compared to a regular one? Just curious...might eventually talk to them about modding my Peavey. I dunno.

Damn  That's a steal, was it a fully modded recto, because his platinum mod was $1012.00 ?

Just switched out the stock preamp tubes for 2 gold pin tung-sols (V1 & V5) and 2 gold pin JJ's (V2 $ V3) and a EH (V4)

Sounds even better now

there was a great deal yesterday on CL. A triple rec head w/ mesa 4x12 for $1400. Today it's up to $1500. Too bad I want either a Roadster or Mark V.

Just did a quick webcam/mic tone test of my dual recto, nothing special:

your **** sounds good dude! I would love to see some awesome demo's of the dual rec doing cleans

Thanks! Now since everything is in order, I'll try to write some clean tone riffs and post them up in the future :D

A dual rec's cleans are pretty good with the right combo of preamp tubes IMO.

right on. maybe you can assist my delima. someone made me a sweet deal to buy their dr halfstack. but i want a roadster or mark v. should i hold out on the roadster or mark v? main reason i think i should is cus the lower wattage options on the latter. i dont play in a band anymore. i do some recording and jamming but mainly i play at home while finishing college. i've always heard the dr's aren't as good at lower volumes while i know the mark v is. advice?

Depending on the total cost and condition of the half-stack, as opposed to your current funds, it sounds like a bargain. Note that in that clip I posted, the master volume/output were set to around 8:00

Bedroom level playing isn't a problem with the dual rec IMO, but I'd test out one of your guitars on his amp at low levels to be sure.

But if your hearts really set on the roadster or mark v, hold out for one of those :D I personally had my heart set on a dual rec for years

8:00 is absolutely reasonable. ya dudes offering a dr halfstack for 1300. i know i wont even get a mark v combo for less than 1700 or halfstack for less than 2000. roadster roughly the same. i just really like reverb.

Forgot to post my settings:

Gear used:
Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 3CH (Orange CH modern, FX loop engaged with a patch cable)
BC Rich Late 80's Bronze Warlock (EMG 81/85 @18V Drop A tuning)
Mic'ed with a AKG D5

Settings:
Gain: Max
Bass: 9:00
Treble:12:00
Presence: Min
Mids: Max
Master: 8:00 along with output level at 8:00. (bedroom level)
No pedals used.

That's a gnarly video dude... crazy that you run your gain at max, but it doesn't even sound that bad  I guess with treble and presence so low, it evens out. Try running your treble even lower, let through more of the mid-range.

Thanks man. I hope to have more to come, since I've fully tweaked the amp to my liking.

I'm now running a Boss SD-1 (until I fix the Ibanez TS7 laying here-cuts more low then the TS7) MXR black label chorus/Boss NS-2 in front of the dual, sounds even tighter with more mids, ballsier and crunchier
