Got used to my single rectifier (first mesa) now however I have now come to connect my pedalboard up to it. Everything is OK apart from my MXR delay pedal, when I activate the pedal it muffles the sound.

It did not do this on my marshall set up so I am after any advice/help as to why it is giving a bad sound. I am going through the effects loop and the FX mxc is on max at the back of the amp.

I have tried altering all the settings on the MXR but it makes no difference.

PS it is the carbon copy metallic green pedal

Thanks

Try lowering the channel masters and raising the Output Level to get you back to the same final volume. It sounds like the pedal circuit may be overdriving. I've found this problem with quite a few pedals, including MXRs - although only old ones, I don't have any new ones. The Marshall (depending on model) may have a lower loop level.

It might not be possible to fix it entirely without turning down the channel masters to where they don't sound good though - a friend of mine had this problem with his Rectoverb and I had to fix it by adding a couple of resistors in series with the pots to halve the signal level.

If you don't use the Mix except on full, I think it might be possible to mod that to be a Send level control as well, but I haven't tried that.
