Hey

I just had the chance to get a mxr 10 band eq cheap . I grabbed it as i've read many on here say how good they are with a Dual Rec . I wont get it for a few days but I'm wondering where most people put them for an unmodded 3 channel DR loop .

My natural instinct for an EQ would be infront of the amp but I can see an argument for in the loop behind the preamp .

I'm not getting it for any lack of balls or dislike of the sound of the amp, I'm super happy with it , but to add some new sounds. So I wont just be setting it up to tighten and fatten the bottom end and leaving it . I love that distant , am radio ,old record sound you can get with an eq for effect. But I'm sure I will be using it for super fat distortion at times as well

I'll try in both and see what I like better but opionins are always good

with my DR i use a 10 band in the loop to scoop[ out some mids. but the 10 band works best and it sounds better in the loop to my ears :D

In truth it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish with your EQ (s). Here's a site that offers alot on the topic http://www.amptone.com/#eqconcepts In my experience one before any O/D is always helful in pulling out the sublties while one in the loop help sculpt your overall output and therefore making the two uses completely different. http://www.amptone.com/truesecretofamptone.htm
