My question is, how can you use multiple preamps in one rack?
I'm not necessarily after using them in paralell or anything fancy, just want to be able to acess all the amps with a footswitch so that I can use one amp for one rhythm sound, another amp for a different rhythm sound ...
I thought about using a GXC to split the signals with Y-cables and going into the loops for selecting the ampbut how can I combine the outputs of the amps to one or preferably two lines? (one for the dry signal into power amp and the other into the FX)

Use the differents preamps like pedals, each in one loop of the GCX.

for multiple preamps, use a loop-system like the GCX, RG-16, Effect Gizmo, Patchmate.....
hock up a preamp per loop, so you don´t need a splitter...but you can´t use more than one preamp a time.
if you wanna do a parallel setup it gets quite complicated.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Just hypotheticly, if I did want to use the amps in paralell, would this setup work:

Guitar > GCX > rane sm26 splitter/mixer > back to the GCX, using one loop per amp > from the send of the GCX to the preamps > Rane sm26 splitter/mixer > dry power amp/wet power amp

let us know, which units you are using (multi-fx, single fx) and what you want to do at the end.
maybe i can tell you how to wire it up, but i need to know which units are in your rack.

ok here's what I've got so far:
as far as preamps go I have a mesa quad and a marshall jmp-1 (I do already have a switch for the quad)
I'm always looking for new preamps but I don't think I'll EVER put more than 3 or 4 in my rack.

for most FX i use a G-major 2 and I also have a few stomp boxes (stereo chorus, booster, ...)

I'm planing on getting either a rocktron all access or a voodo lab ground control to controll my rack.
Basicly I want a W/D/W setup and I want to be able to use different preamps for different sounds, so for instance the quad for clean and lead and the marshall for rhythm.
I don't think I will ever use any amps in paralell.

how do you wanna make a W/D/W with only a stereo poweramp?
aren´t you happy with the sound of the G-M2?
i would wire it up as a normal stereo setup and set the FX-Mix in the presets of the g-m2.
and for this, i would recommend the RG-16 of RJM, you can get a switching cable for the quad preamp and switch all functions of the preamp via the RG-16, as well as having 8 loops (4 in series for stompboxes and 4 free configurable) the RG-16 needs 1U in your rack.
so you could wire it up like my setup:

btw. i don´t use the FCB1010 anymore, i switched over to the rocktron AA

wow, that looks pretty cool!
I just thought because everyone said w/d/w setups were so great I needed to have one too :D anyway, thanks a lot!
