To all,
I dont know that i would kick my Mark 4 to the curb just yet. Ive been using the MK 4 live for a few years.
Of course like most others I feel Channel 2 is the weak point in this amp and in my case the hotter the humbucker the better
channel 2 sounds. Never had a problem with the MK 4 at all.

Now on to the MK V , channel 1 has a lot of usable options goes from clean to tight crunch and all points in between.
Channel 2 is also great until you get to the mark 1 modes just a ton of low end mud which i feel is useless. Yes you can eq
the low end and clean it up, but why shuold you have to do that ? Channel 3 the mk 2c is wonerful x 10 I love it.

Now for the part that relly offends my wallet. The MK V pops spits and makes loud staic noises when powering up and I paid 2 grand for this. So mesa says replace the power tubes one by one until you find a bad tube. ( why should i have to do that?)

I replaced all 4 tube with the ones from my MK 4 an now Chnnel 3 on the MK V make noise all of the time.

Well I live in rural fla and the closest repir shop is 200 miles away. I guess this one missed the hammer test and arent all of mesa tube supposed to be tested?
Well the MK V is on stage where I play and we will see how it does in a live setting.

Why would it be more of a studio amp when it has a footswitchable lead boost and tuner out, which the IV doesn't have, plus a rhythm channel that buries the Mark IV's R2? 3 simple things that make the V a MUCH better live amp than the IV.
