So I got my Mark IV back after having a cap job done and it sounds great, for the most part. Something I've noticed even before it was in the shop was the way it sounds after I've switched from clean to lead (channel 3). Usually I play in channel 3/lead. Sounds great...ballsy, punchy, tight, tons of smooooth gain. If I switch over to ch 1 or 2 for some clean tones and then switch back to ch 3 it no longer sounds all that great....sorta fizzy with not as much punch. In short I'll go from being totally pleased and inspired by my channel 3 tone, to coming back and going "WTF?!...where'd it go?" Is there something that goes on with the pre amp tubes when going from high gain to clean and back again? Should be consistent right? Or is this just my ears playing tricks on me?
