Hi Folks,

Anyone using this combination?

Pros + Cons?

I use the flashback delay but I'mthinking of getting one to expand tonal variations.

Thanks in advance :)

I use a Nova System, but I use it with a Mark III, not a V. It really is a great unit and has a good array of effects. I happen to like all of them fortunately, and have always been able to make the effects sound the way I wanted (that said, I've always liked the TC sound). The only real disadvantage for me is that you end up with a really long cable run (I also have a wah, which means I have cables from Guitar to Wah, Wah to the front of the amp, Send and Return, which adds up to many feet of cable). That's why I've been searching for a multi effects processor that has all the effects of the Nova plus a Wah, but doesn't have a foot pedal, so that I can leave it beside my head and control it with a foot controller. Unfortunately, I've only found 2 or 3 processors: the G System (the disadvantage for me is that the foot controller is too big) and a Lexicon (I can't recall the model but it was an old unit and it had quite a bit of latency when switching patches, and you also couldn't use too many effects at a time). The problem I have is that I also want the multi effects processor to be smaller than a rack unit (such as a G Major 2), so unless Eventide releases something like an upgraded H9 where you can use 3 or 4 algorithms at a time, I think I'm quite screwed.

Thanks for that.

I currently only run a flashback delay in the loop, and I have on the floor so I can adjust for differing songs/sounds so I'm not that put off for the cable issue as it's the same at the min.

how do you find the modulations like chorus/delay behave with the higher gain aspects of the amp?

Cheers again

I've found that the modulations (specifically the phaser and flanger) can really be tailored to your liking. I could always get the sound I was looking for out of them (still, as I said, I've always been a fan of the TC sound). I find that, for cleans, the modulations really work well in the loop. However, for higher gain, I think I'd like the chorus a bit more if I could place it in front of the amp. Still, after some tweaking, I've found a sound I'm really pleased with. Having said this, when I add chorus to a high gain sound I mainly use it for passages where I'm arpeggiating chords with odd voicings/intervals, so that it makes everything a bit more clear, to help you pick out the individual notes, so it's not such a dramatic chorus.
I forgot to mention, Fractal also came out with a multi effects processor which can be connected using the 4CM, so that you can place any effect wherever you want in the signal chain. Of course you also have the alternative of picking up a used Axe FX standard and a MIDI foot controller (you can find them relatively cheap these days if you look enough and have a bit of luck). Still the Nova System is unbeatable for the price point it's at. Honestly, my only problem with it is the really long cable run (which half of it is well funded with a sonic reason and half of it is OCD really).
