Ok I'm seriously impressed and so blown away by the sound on the Mini Rectifier. I have owned 2 Dual Rectifiers before ane dont remember enjoys playing them this much. Of course now I'm looking for a speaker cab other than my 4x12. Would like to get a 2x12 horizontal or vertical, not sure yet. Also know I can improve on the smoothness of ch.2. Don't get me wrong this amp has way surpasses my expectation, but looking to smooth things out on Ch2 a little.

So to those who have experimented with your Mini's... Let's hear some tube swap results.
And I'm not 100% sure the V30 is the right speaker with this amp. Maybe a mix of V30 and G12h30 might be nice.

Everybody's ears are different. Just starting a thread to see what tubes, speakers, cab, or any other mode tips or tricks everybody's done with their Mini Rectifiers.

I just got mine about a week ago, so I'm still scraping up $$$$$ for tubes.

I am using a ported 2x12 Weber Michigan cab and it's great. I want to also get a ported 1x12 but not sure if I'll put a high power Weber in it, or a Tubby, or a Swamp Thang, CRex, or Red White & Blues.....I think a Patriot series would really smooth out the highs on this thing. What a beast!

Yea any Weber speakers are great and usually smooth. The Patriot sounds like it would be a good match. I'm thinking a G12H30 and V30 combo, or another combo including a V30. As far as cabs go I'm just thinking about getting a Mesa 2x12 horizontal. I have a problem in my left ear, been to many Dr's and they all got different answers, it hurts sometimes and real sensitive, but not always. So I wanting to get a speaker cab that's not a slant and pointed at my ears. Them Port City cabs look nice.

what settings are you using for CH2?

If you are using 25w modern, try switching to vintage. Or try dropping to 10w, its supposed to have a smoother/saggier feel.

Smoothing out ch2 - modern mode, presence OFF, adjust treble to taste.

YES!! Found that out last night. Almost sounded like Vintage mode if you take presence all way off and turn mids past noon in modern.

Sometimes I'll do the opposite with vintage mode. Treble OFF, presence to taste.

I cant imaging turning one knob all the way off:( you need some of those frequencies. Try all @ 12 o clock except gain then adjust to your taste. im running a 12gauge speaker cable and 12G mercury power chord and its completely smooth with my gibsons. tungsol or gold lion v1 v2 sylvania baldwin v3 penta M 4 penta v5 EI. Remember the modern mode at 25 9 o clock or just a tad pass that is max for volume to sound best. Setting up next to a wall about 2 feet away makes the amp sound thicker, my amp always sounder fuller over there then at my house and her's in few years newer also, maybe better electrical current?

TRM GUITAR CABS

If you search thiele on ebay you can find this same guy selling a Thiele cab, it's not on his web site yet. I have the ducted port 2x12 with a pair of Michigans, just sold two 1x15 cabs to help raise $$$$$$ for the Mini Rec. Now I want a ducted port 1x12 or one of his Thiele cabs.

I just love the sound of the solid pine cab. I had a Big Ben in one 15, a California in the other, awesome sound. But they were not ported. The duct port just makes the sound huge! Especially if you oversize the cab.......for example, I made a 12 inch baffle for the 1x15 cab, and I put a 12 inch Chicago in it. Absolutely amazing tone. I also have a 2x10 baffle for the 2x12 cab, makes a pair of 10's sound much phatter and warmer. Oversize makes a big big difference. Later I put the 12 back in the Coyote Cab (another quality builder) and suddenly it sounded a lot smaller and 2 dimensional.
